If I need something I don't have at hand I always try to make things with the whatever materials I can find. In this case, for one specific shot, we didn't have a very good microphone so, to make it easier for the sound person, I tied the microphone to a wooden stick with some hairbands in order to make a boompole.

The phone recorded the sound and thanks to a double connector, the sound person was able to listen what he was recording.

This is a steadycam I built with the help of my dad.

We used metal pipe tubes and screws to make the base and we then we attached it to a wooden plate where the camera was placed.
